Overview
Our Headache Specialty Clinic is staffed by a physician who holds the qualification of certified headache specialist — an expert in headache medicine. Certified headache specialists typically have areas of expertise such as neurology, neurosurgery, or anesthesiology and pain clinic. Our hospital specializes in anesthesiology and pain clinic, which covers the treatment of pain throughout the body. As a result, our physician has extensive experience in treating both headaches and other types of pain, and is able to provide treatment for pain conditions beyond headaches as well. Treatment is primarily medication-based and tailored to each patient’s symptoms, with Kampo (herbal medicine) therapy and nerve block therapy also incorporated as appropriate.
Some headaches — such as those caused by subarachnoid hemorrhage or intracerebral hemorrhage — are life-threatening conditions requiring emergency treatment. If you experience “a headache unlike any you have had before,” “a sudden, severe headache like being struck by a bat,” or “loss of consciousness,” there may be a vascular or neurological cause. Please seek immediate medical attention at a neurology or neurosurgery clinic. If a headache with a brain-related cause is identified after visiting our clinic, we will refer you to the appropriate specialist.
In June 2020, our clinic was approved as a certified facility by the Japan Headache Society. We will continue to provide care that supports patients suffering from headaches.
In November 2023, our clinic was designated as an Associate Educational Facility by the Japanese Headache Society. We are committed to training headache specialists and contributing to the advancement of headache medicine.

- You have long had headaches and take over-the-counter medication, but now take it every day
- You have persistent stiffness in your shoulders and neck
- Your headache worsens with everyday activities such as walking or climbing stairs
- You feel nauseous along with your headache

- Your headaches are related to your menstrual cycle
- You have severe headaches in the middle of the night that have continued for several months
