Overview
Orthopedic conditions encompass a wide range of areas including the spine, joints, and trauma. In recent years, advances in surgical equipment and techniques have driven increasing specialization across Japan. Since 2005, our department has focused on joint surgery while continuing to provide general orthopedic care, always striving to pursue the highest level of specialization. We are committed to contributing to community healthcare while offering the most advanced surgical techniques available.

Conditions Treated
Hip Joint Conditions
Hip joint conditions are our department’s greatest area of expertise. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) for osteoarthritis of the hip incorporates minimally invasive surgery techniques, allowing patients to begin walking just 2–3 days after the procedure. We are now also able to safely perform surgery on cases previously considered inoperable, including dislocating hip conditions and severe deformities. If you have been suffering from hip problems since childhood or have been told that surgery is not possible, please do not hesitate to consult us.
For younger patients, osteotomy procedures may be indicated. We perform rotational acetabular osteotomy (RAO), Chiari pelvic osteotomy, and rotational femoral head osteotomy for avascular necrosis of the femoral head, a designated intractable disease. For more details, please refer to Dr. Fujii’s website at http://www.dr-fujii.net/.
Knee Joint Conditions
With Japan’s aging population, the number of patients suffering from knee pain due to osteoarthritis of the knee is increasing. When intra-articular hyaluronic acid injections administered in the outpatient clinic fail to relieve symptoms, surgery may be indicated. For mild deformities, arthroscopic surgery is performed; for severe deformities, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is indicated. As with hip joint conditions, early weight-bearing and rehabilitation are now possible.
Hand Surgery
Hand surgery treats injuries and conditions affecting the fingers, wrist, and elbow. When hand function declines due to pain or numbness, it can significantly interfere with daily life. For this reason, it is important to maintain hand function through appropriate treatment. At our hospital, a certified hand surgery specialist accredited by the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand provides consultations and treatment, while occupational therapists deliver specialized rehabilitation focused on hand care.
Common conditions we treat include carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome, which cause numbness, pain, and paralysis in the hand, as well as tendonitis, trigger finger, and osteoarthritis, which cause pain, catching, and difficulty moving the fingers. We also treat fractures of the fingers and wrist caused by falls and other injuries. We address a wide range of other conditions as well, so if you are experiencing numbness, pain, deformity, or injury in your hand, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Drug therapy for rheumatoid arthritis has advanced dramatically in recent years. We work in collaboration with rheumatology specialists in the city and provide surgical treatment for patients who have reached the limits of drug therapy.
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation is the most important aspect of orthopedic care. Our team of rehabilitation specialists (physical therapists and occupational therapists) has grown significantly. We hold regular meetings and study sessions with our physicians to ensure that each patient receives the most appropriate rehabilitation program.
We also collaborate with other hospitals for conditions not listed above, so please feel free to consult us. We are dedicated to guiding each patient toward the best possible outcome. Please note that as the outpatient clinic operates by appointment, waiting times may be longer during busy periods. We also ask for your understanding that emergency and trauma cases may not be able to be accommodated during scheduled surgeries.
